We support you to feel in control of and involved in what is happening to you.

We help you to find out what help is available if you need it. We can offer a wide variety of support, including:

  • emotional and therapeutic support
  • sourcing practical help at home
  • accessing other services
  • advice around debt or income maintenance
  • help with housing
  • advocacy
  • working with schools or employers
  • or offering psychosocial support.

We talk openly about dying and bereavement and help you deal with your worries and think about how you can cope.

We listen to children and young people to understand their needs. When a significant adult in their lives is ill or has died, it is important to understand what support they need too.

We can also make enquiries and arrange safeguards with you if you are at risk of abuse or neglect. We help you to make use of the resources and legal powers that are available for you.

Social work
What is a palliative care social worker and what do they do?

We see whole people living within whole families, rather than as individuals with a set of specific problems to solve. We seek to understand the connections of life. We aim to support people as they come to terms with what is happening to them or someone close to them. We also support them to continue to live as they choose for as long as they can.
