This is a new role to support the Bolsover Community. Volunteers will provide support for palliative care patients, their families and carers. Our trained volunteers will work alongside the Palliative Care Team and Supportive Care Team to help with the major life changes that come with a life limiting illness. The aim of the role is to help ease the pressures on patients and their families. The role will be varied and based on mutual trust between the client and volunteer; governed by the guidelines of the Project Coordinator and policies of Ashgate.
Our Volunteer Roles
Our team of Receptionists act as first point of contact for our stakeholders including patients, their families/carers; GP’s, District Nurses, Staff, Volunteers and visitors to the Hospice. Our Volunteer Receptionists have a friendly, reassuring, calm and professional manner.
You will meet and greet all patients and visitors to the Hospice, and take on a variety of other roles; you may answer the phones, sign contractors in and out, serve customers in the Hospice shop, assist with post and take the sweets trolley around the inpatient unit.
We are in urgent need of volunteers at our donation centre in Hasland. This is a varied role and no two days are the same. It’s busy but rewarding. This role will suit someone who doesn’t mind a challenge and is looking for a more active role. If you have a few hours to spare, could you help please ?

Do you have a ‘can-do’ attitude? Are you the sort of person who likes to ‘muck in’ and works well as part of team? We operate a successful Furniture Store at Storforth Land, Hasland and are looking for volunteers to help in our delivery warehouse.
Are you friendly and outgoing? Can you work under pressure and adapt your approach to meet our customers’ requirements? We require volunteers to support our busy coffee shops in Clowne and Hasland.
Do you have a ‘can do’ attitude? We operate a successful Store at Storforth Lane, Hasland and are looking for volunteers who want to help us sort and organise items of stock (clothes and bric-a-brac) that are donated to us.
We have lots of opportunities to volunteer at our Hasland Store including Volunteer Retail Assistants helping in our boutique Clothes Shop, Volunteer Coffee Shop Assistants, Volunteer Furniture Warehouse Assistants, Volunteer Admin Assistants and Volunteer PAT Testers.
We are looking for an experienced and qualified PAT Tester to assist in the testing of electrical equipment/goods for re-sale and use in our Hasland retail outlet.
Can you drive? Do you have your own vehicle? Are you available on Thursdays? We are looking for drivers who can assist in the transportation of patients to and from our Day Hospice on Thursdays
