Cycle enthusiasts to take part in nearly 4,000 mile cycle challenge for hospice

Chairman of leading national design group WCEC Architects, James Kemp, and his good friend Wayne Vaughan are taking on a challenge like no other.

Starting in California on the West Coast of the United States of America, the cycle enthusiasts will begin a mammoth 3,838 mile cross-country cycle ride across America, in aid of Ashgate Hospicecare.

When asked why they had decided to raise money for Ashgate Hospicecare, Wayne said: “As keen cyclists, we had always wanted to cycle across America and decided we could raise money for charity as it’s such a big challenge. When we asked around about which charity to choose, Ashgate Hospicecare kept being suggested.” James added: “It’s great to raise money for such a worthy local cause. As Wayne and I are covering our own expenses, every penny donated will go directly to Ashgate Hospicecare.”

As James and Wayne battle with the tough summer heat, cycling an average of 80 miles a day for 52 days, they will document their journey with photos from each of the 13 states they pass through. These photos will be shared by Ashgate Hospicecare on their social media page, reaching over 10,000 supporters multiple times over the 7 and half week challenge.
