Local hospice charity shop broken into over the weekend

On Sunday 14th January, Ashgate Hospicecare’s Bakewell Retail shop was broken in to costing the Hospice over £1500 from stolen items and repair bills.

The retail shop, which is based on Portland Square in Bakewell, is a key source of funding for the Hospice’s services across North Derbyshire.

Graham Richardson, Director of Retail and New Business, said: “It’s very sad to think that people would take from a local hospice which delivers vital care to patients with life-limiting illnesses.

Every penny makes such a difference to the Hospice, so when something like this happens it’s a real disappointment, not just because of the money lost but also the disrespect shown towards the kind-hearted people who donate to the hospice.”
