On Sunday 9th December, Ashgate Hospicecare officially switched on their Christmas lights and remembered loved ones at this year’s Light up a Life ceremony.
The popular ceremony, which was held on the hospice grounds at 6pm, is now in its 16th year and has raised over £600,000 for patient care since it first began in 2002.
Joy Plowright, from Chesterfield in North Derbyshire, said: “The service was so lovely at Ashgate. I miss my bestest friend Carol so much, so I’ve placed a star message on their Christmas tree. There are so many memories around to keep her alive.”
Deborah Martin, from Dronfield in North Derbyshire, said: “What an amazing ceremony and experience to be involved with. Everyone came together to remember that someone who was special to them.
