On Sunday 14th April, Ashgate Hospicecare’s Woofs and Wellies event returns and will be even bigger and better this year!
The event, which is proudly sponsored by Dunston Lodge, starts at 9am and will lead you around the beautiful Linacre Reservoirs and back to the Hospice (roughly 4.5 miles). Not only that, once you’ve crossed over the finish line with your mucky pups, there will also be a spring fair for the whole family to enjoy, including an entertaining dog show by the amazing Richard Curtis, who has appeared on Crufts.
Last year, the event raised an incredible £6,351! This generous amount can pay for 129 patients to receive a two-hour Hospice at Home visit, enabling them to stay with their loved ones, in their own homes. So, are you ready to go mutts and help more patients and their families across North Derbyshire access hospice care?
Beth Cole, Events Fundraiser at Ashgate Hospicecare, said “Here at the Hospice, we know how important pets are to our patients, especially their dogs. We really want local people to come together on the 14th April, raise money, make friends and reach our goal of 150 wagging tails at Woofs and Wellies. It’s such an enjoyable day and I can’t wait to see everyone there raising money for their local hospice.”
Claire Stevens, from Chesterfield in North Derbyshire, said: “My amazing Labrador and I can’t wait for this year’s Woofs and Wellies event! Ashgate Hospicecare provides much needed care to so many people, so I’m really pleased that we are able to raise money for such a worthy cause whilst spending time with my best friend. It’s such a lovely event, I couldn’t recommend it highly enough!”
Richard Harrington, Co-owner and Managing Director at Dunston Lodge who are sponsoring the event, said: “Ashgate Hospicecare has long been very close to my heart. It is such a wonderful charity, doing so much for the local community, that we have always wanted to be involved with them. Sponsoring Woofs and Wellies just seems the most appropriate way for Dunston Lodge to help; by combining our love of dogs with the support of such a great cause.”
Online entry fee is just £5 for adults and £1 for children. If you would like to attend the event on the day the entry fee will be £10 and £1 for children.
