Care for a Cuppa

Pop the kettle on and bring out the chocolate cake! February is Care for a Cuppa time!

Why not host a Care for a Cuppa event to raise money for your local hospice? Get your friends, family, work colleagues or members of your local community together to socialise and you’ll be helping patients and families in North Derbyshire access the care and support they need from Ashgate Hospicecare.

Now in its fourth year, Care for a Cuppa events have helped to raise a total of over £53,800 for Ashgate Hospicecare – a fantastic achievement! With your help this year, you can ensure that people with a life-limiting illness and their families can receive the support they need when it matters the most.

What is Care for a Cuppa?

Whether you organise a laid back coffee morning with cakes or a classy afternoon tea with sandwiches and scones, your event will help to make a real difference.

You can hold your event anywhere; at home with friends and family, at work, at school or in a local community centre.

Care for a Cuppa runs throughout the whole of February. But if that doesn’t work for you, don’t worry! The Fundraising Team at Ashgate Hospicecare will be delighted to support your event at any time of the year.

Want some inspiration?

Our fundraising pack is designed to help your event be a success with posters, invitations bunting, recipes and a label to decorate a jar for your donations. Just ask those attending to make a donation in return for tea, coffee and cake. Why not hold a raffle and games to boost your fundraising?

This year we’re also selling our special blended Ashgate Hospicecare tea which will be available to buy for £2.79 for 40 tea bags from our Fundraising Hub in the Reception area at the Hospice in Old Brampton. Our Fundraising Team are now in the shop Monday to Friday, so why not pop in and say hello? Everyone that signs up will receive a free pack of Ashgate Hospicecare tea bags.

Read Zoe’s story below who held her own Care for a Cuppa event.

“My mum spent time on the ward at Ashgate before returning home where she sadly died in January 2018. The Hospice cared for mum whilst she stayed there, but their support didn’t stop when she left. They provided equipment, visited Mum at home and were always only a phone call away when we needed them. I wanted to hold a Care for a Cuppa event to give something back to this amazing charity and to help raise funds for other families, so that they can get this much needed support and care.

The event was amazing, we had so much support and raised an incredible £2,623! It was one of the best things I’ve ever been involved in and I feel such a sense of pride in myself and my friends, Rachel and Becky, for making it happen. I’m so grateful to all our friends, family and members of the public for supporting us and making it such a big event. I think we all agree that it’ll become an annual event!”
