Death Café – Dying Matters Awareness Week

This year, Dying Matters Awareness Week is from 14th to the 20th May 2018 and Ashgate Hospicecare will be supporting this campaign throughout the week to spread awareness and to encourage conversation around the taboo subjects of death, dying and bereavement.

Death is often a topic that many people avoid, but it’s the one certainty in life that is guaranteed to happen to everyone.

To promote Dying Matters Awareness Week, Ashgate Hospicecare are holding two ‘Death Cafés’ in Chesterfield Town Centre to show how it can be helpful both to ourselves and those close to us to talk about death, dying and bereavement.

The Death Cafés, which will be taking place on Thursday 17th and Friday 18th May from 10.00am to 2.00pm, will be held at Steeplegate, Vicar Lane, S40 1PQ (previously The Works shop next to Burger King) and will give members of the public the opportunity to discuss subjects around death and dying in an informal, comfortable and secure atmosphere. There will also be opportunities to ask questions to professionals including a funeral directors, solicitors and staff from the Hospice.

Just fancy a coffee and cake? Come along and indulge in a mid-week treat as all contributions from the Death Café will go directly to Ashgate Hospicecare.
