Our small team of highly specialist lymphoedema nurses provide support and care to patients with lymphoedema.
We help patients with lymphoedema by providing specialist massages to help drain the excess fluid and use specialist bandaging techniques and compression garments to help keep fluid retention to a minimum.
We provide outpatient clinics at Ashgate Hospicecare and Blythe House Day Hospice in Chapel-en-le-Frith and patients are also seen in the Inpatient Unit, Day Hospice and at home.
What is Lymphoedema?
Lymphoedema is a chronic condition caused by problems with the lymphatic system that results in swelling in the body’s tissues. The lymphatic system is a network of vessels and glands that are designed to fight infection and drain excess fluid from the body, however if this system is damaged, it can cause excess fluid in body tissues and can be very painful and uncomfortable. Lymphoedema can often be a side effect resulting from operations to treat cancer, but people can also be born with the condition.Contact us
