Ashgate Hospice > Share your story

How will your story be used?

Your story may be shared on our website, across social media and in our fundraising appeals. It may also be shared more widely with newspapers, magazines, TV and radio. Don’t worry, we would never share your story without your prior consent.

People who’ve shared their story often find it a really positive experience and an opportunity to make a real difference for people living with a life-limiting illness in North Derbyshire.

How do you get involved?

All you need to do at this stage is answer some questions, giving us as much information as you can and feel comfortable with.

If we need more details, a member of the Marketing and Communications Team will get in touch to have a chat. If you have any questions about sharing your story you can speak to a member of our Marketing and Communications Team by emailing [email protected]

Scroll down or head over the news section to check out some stories we’ve shared already.

Your frequently asked questions

Sharing your story
How will sharing my story help?

Thank you for thinking about sharing your Ashgate Hospice story – doing so will mean we can raise awareness of the work we do to support families across North Derbyshire. Everything we do to promote the hospice using your words and imagery will help to illustrate our caring nature and the need to raise funds towards our services.

How could my story be used?

Your story could be used to help raise awareness of the care and services that Ashgate Hospice provides across North Derbyshire. It is likely that we will share your story and images both internally and externally. We will keep you updated throughout the process and explain where we plan to use your story specifically.

Some platforms that we often share our stories on/with include:

  • in internal and external newsletters
  • our social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok)
  • local press
  • on our website (www.ashgatehospice.org.uk)
  • in grant applications
  • in offline marketing materials, in leaflets for our healthcare teams or fundraising.
Will I get to see a copy of my story before its published?

Yes, you will get to see a copy of your story before it is published anywhere. After you’ve provided a member of our Marketing and Communications team with all the details they need, they will prepare a proposed article for you to read through and make any amendments. Before we publish or share it on any of the platforms in the list above, we want to make sure it is accurate and that you are happy with what we have written. Once you let us know that you are pleased with what we have put together, then we will look at getting your story out there.

Can I withdraw my consent?

If you change your mind about sharing your story, please let us know as soon as possible by emailing [email protected]. Please note: If we have already published/shared your story, we will do all we can to remove your personal information from the public domain. However, sometimes this process can be difficult. If your story has been published by a third party, i.e., a news publication, we do not have control over whether it can be removed from their website.

Any further questions?

If you have any further questions about consent or about sharing your story, please contact the Marketing and Communications Team on [email protected] and we’ll be more than happy to help.
